A Cosmic Engagement 700 Meters Beneath the Surface

As our steps enter the 1,266-meter inclined shaft tunnel, the hustle and bustle of the surface fades into profound stillness, and a journey of exploration across rock strata and physical boundaries begins. This is the core heartland of the Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment (JUNO), hidden 700 meters underground in Kaiping, holding the ultimate code for humanity to decode the "ghost particles".

Recently, General Manager Li Jianji of Tianchi Group was invited to visit the highly anticipated Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment. This visit is not only a chance to get up close and personal with cutting-edge science, but also a source of fresh thoughts and inspiration for the future development of Tianchi Group. Let us follow Mr. Li Jianji's footsteps and step into the marvelous world of the Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment together.

A Decade of Perseverance, Sculpting a Landmark in Scientific Exploration

"It has taken us more than a decade to turn the vision into reality and launch the official operation," introduced the accompanying researchers. The project was approved in 2013, construction of the underground laboratory kicked off in 2015, and the main detector was completed in 2024. Countless researchers have overcome numerous challenges with their unwavering perseverance. During the ultrapure water filling phase alone, the team had to inject 60,000 tons of water within 45 days and control the liquid level difference to the centimeter scale; the purification of the liquid scintillator even went through over a thousand experiments, and a five-stage purification system was ultimately developed to achieve world-class cleanliness.

As the visit went deeper, Mr. Li Jianji felt an ever-growing fascination with the scientific allure of the Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment (JUNO). He witnessed the scientists' persistent pursuit of truth and spirit of selfless dedication—they spared no time and effort to overcome countless hardships for a single scientific goal. This spirit deeply touched Mr. Li Jianji, who realized that such a professional dedication and sense of mission also need to be fostered among employees in enterprise development. Only when every employee clearly understands the enterprise's goals and mission can their work enthusiasm and creativity be inspired, driving the enterprise to forge ahead continuously.

Beyond the laboratory, science is never distant.

Some may ask, what do these underground researches have to do with our daily lives? The researchers offered a poetic answer: "Exploring basic science is like sowing seeds for the future." Today, neutrino detection technology is already boosting geophysical research — by analyzing terrestrial neutrinos, we can infer the distribution of radioactive elements in the Earth’s crust and mantle. What’s more, the technologies accumulated in detector development, such as high-precision measurement and materials for extreme environments, are likely to be applied in medical imaging, environmental monitoring and other fields in the future.

Looking ahead, Mr. Li Jianji is full of confidence. He believes that driven by science and technology, Tianchi Group will embrace new development opportunities. He hopes the Group will keep exploring and innovating to overcome one technical challenge after another, just like the Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment. He also expects Tianchi Group to make greater contributions to the progress of the industry and the development of society in its future growth. He will lead all employees of Tianchi Group to face future challenges with fuller enthusiasm and firmer resolve.
